MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES - YEAR 12/13 UNIFORM

In November last year the Tikipunga High Shcool Board of Turstees agreed to making the current Senior Year 13 uniform available to Year 12 students in 2014.  The senior uniform is white, fittend and monogrammed shirt for bys and girls, black pants or skirt with black fitted cardigan for girls and black soft jacket for boys.  This decision was regrettalby not passed on to the wider shcool community.  For this we apologise but stand by the decision made in November last year.  Year 12 students can choose to wear either the "white" or "maroon" uniform.  For any Year 12 student who has purchased a "maroon" uniform this year from either Bethells Uniforms or Northland School Wear, the school will replace these with the white shirts (if available) at no cost.

This offer will be available until the end of March to student who are in Year 12 and who would have preferred to purchase and wear the "white" uniform.  Please bring your newly purchased "maroon" uniform to the Main Office as soon as possible if you wish to have it exchanged.  Once again we apologise for any inconvenience caused and wish you well for your studies in 2014.

TEACHER ONLY DAY - FRIDAY 21ST MARCH 2014

Our staff (teaching and support) are participating with other Northland Secondary Schools in the Digitial Horizon Conference being held at Whangarei Boys and Girls High Schools.  The focus of this day is preparing staff for the Nework 4 Learning (N4L) and the new Digital Horizon in Education.  Given the importance of these workshops we are advising parents ad caregivers that the school will be closed on this day.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Welcome and Kia ora

Tikipunga High School is a co-educational Year 7-13 school of around 550 students serving a community (north eastern suburb of Whangarei and outlying rural area).  The school is committed to a school-wide approach to teaching which is relationship centred and is geared to high levels of student engagement complemented by high expectations for student success.

Our school’s motto is “tukua o punga” – cast your nets, which encapsulates the key purpose of schooling – to enable students to cast their nets so that they can be successful learners, reach their personal potential and be purposeful, productive and caring members of society.
